Multi-Genre project: Research proposal

For my project I have been struggling with a topic and still am struggling on what I will do. For now I have chosen to do mine over Anorexia Nervosa. I don't have any exact sources that have struggled with this problem but I will be interviewing my dad and stepmother to see their insight on the situation. The proposed dates I will set to interview them will be next week February 3-7. Anorexia Nervosa is an intense eating disorder that makes people lose more weight that is considered healthy for their age and height. People who have this usually have a deep fear of any types of weight gain. People who do not struggle with this usually view it as weird or uncommon, when in reality it is very sad. Although many people know what Anorexia is many people do not know the symptoms, struggles, and statistics on the subject. I chose this topic because so many girls think that to be pretty they have to be super skinny. Beauty should not be defined on all looks and certainly not a number on a silly scale. Through my project I will plan to find answers to questions people wonder. I have no sources yet but plan to use books and use reliable sources online.

  1. I like your topic, you should definitely stick with it. I completely agree with what you said about beauty and hopefully what you'll have to say will help others see it that way too!

  2. This topic was a good choice, there's a lot of sites and everything with people who have been through that or other self harm situations who try to help other people and I'm sure you could talk to one of them about it if you need someone to interview.

  5. I like this topic... are you using your parents to just see opinions, or for facts? You could always find a dietician for a source

  8. This topic could definitely support a well researched project. You said that you are not sure that you'll do this topic, what other topics have you looked at?

  10. I hate how easily our society can say someone is unattractive because they are curvy or bigger than the "average" size. I hope you stick with this topic because it is important for everyone to understand how serious it is.

  11. This is a good topic because in todays society it is pushed that in order to be beautiful you must be a certain size.

  12. I have heard of multiple situations of females having this disorder, and I my self do not understand it. I could never stop eating. I should be more wise about what I eat but I am not. I will be excited to see what new information you find out about it.

  13. People of all sizes get teased and picked on for their weight. I am a size 1 and I get so many rude comments like "shes too skinny" "Do you ever eat?" and y all time favorite comment is " Her legs look like tooth picks that is not the reason I am commenting though. I think this is a good topic, but I must ask why are you interviewing your mother and father?

  14. I think that topic is really great and will be really eye opening to anyone who reads it. Making people aware of the problem is the best way to stop it.
